The Hungarian writer has received the Nobel Prize in Literary Arts.

This Magyar author was recognised "for his gripping and forward-thinking oeuvre that, in the midst of end-times terror, reaffirms the power of creative expression."

The author has authored five books and won countless further literary prizes, including the 2015 International Booker Award, and the 2013's best rendered novel award in Fiction for his first book Satantango, a avant-garde piece about the finish of the globe.

Krasznahorkai is the next Hungarian author to obtain the honor subsequent to the former Imre Kertesz, who received in 2002.

Originating in 1954, László Krasznahorkai gained fame in 1985 when he released "Satantango", which he converted for the big screen in 1994.

The monochrome drama, by Hungarian cinematographer Tarr Bela, is famous for its 7-hour length.

The author's further novels include:

  • The Melancholy of Resistance (1989)
  • War and War (the late 90s)
  • "Seiobo There Below" (the 2000s)

The award body characterized the writer as "an great sweeping novelist in the Central European custom that extends through Kafka to Thomas Bernhard, and is marked by absurdist themes and grotesque excess."

His 2021 work Herscht 07769 has been labeled as a significant modern German book, because of its exactness in depicting the land's social upheaval prior to the pandemic.

It's a representation of a current village in Thuringia, Germany, afflicted by societal lawlessness, murder and fire-setting.

"Kind colossus Florian Herscht is an parentless child, adopted by a radical who has mentored him as a wall writing cleaner.

"His employer, a Johann Sebastian Bach enthusiast, is incensed that a person is using canine insignias across the monuments to the celebrated composer in their east German municipality."

A review remarked it as "therefore bleak from beginning to end."

Krasznahorkai's newest mock-heroic work, Zsömle Odavan, reverts to Magyarország.

The main character is 91-year-old Józsi Kada, who has a hidden right to the royal seat but has made every effort to disappear from the globe.
