Filmmaker James Gunn's Man of Steel Arrives on the Streaming Platform This Week

Just 70 days post its cinema release, the rebooted Superman arrives for streaming on the service starting Friday.

Lead actor David Corenswet shared the big reveal on social media with a snapshot of his TV featuring the film on the service's main screen. He humorously mentioned co-star Sara Sampaio with a reference to her character Eve Teschmacher, while Gunn amplified the news on Twitter, confirming the movie arrives this Friday. The studio confirmed the announcement shortly after in an official press release.

Special Themed Interface

Honoring the film's streaming launch, HBO Max is launching a unique customized layout filled with engaging elements. Viewers can expect news-inspired main page visuals, a Fortress of Solitude section highlighting all things Superman, and secret links across the main screen that guide subscribers into Lex Luthor’s Pocket Dimension.

Record-Breaking Performance

Superman smashed through multiple records this summer, including the highest opening weekend for a Man of Steel film in history. It even beat Barbie in entering the Two Million Member film community in a mere 45 days.

Future of the DCU

While opinions are divided about its take on the character or the finale, Superman has created a promising start in the renewed DC lineup. A sequel titled Man of Tomorrow is officially announced, starring David Corenswet as Superman and the iconic villain apparently joining forces against an even greater threat. The film is scheduled to begin production next year and release in movie theaters on the summer of 2027.

For now, you can watch Superman on HBO Max starting this Friday, Sept. 19.
